La vitrografía es una técnica de impresión dentro del campo del grabado contemporáneo que sustituye la matriz tradicional por una superficie vítrea (vidrio ventana o pulido).
Vitreography is, in precise terms, a printmaking technique within the field of contemporary engraving that replaces the traditional matrix with a vitreous surface (window glass or polished glass).
Repurposed Images propone una serie de composiciones que toman como punto de partida el residuo operativo derivado del proceso de grabado en arena desarrollado para la serie Geometrías transferidas.
El grabado en arena sobre vidrio implica la fragmentación de la imagen original en múltiples módulos para ajustarse al formato estándar de impresión (hoja carta) mediante el uso de impresiones en tóner como matriz de transferencia.
Una vez completado este proceso, las impresiones en tóner pierden su función inicial y normalmente pasarían a constituirse como residuo operativo. Aquí, es a partir de estas imágenes seccionadas que se generan nuevas composiciones mediante la reconfiguración de los mismos módulos que conformaban la imagen original.
El resultado no corresponde a una variación formal externa, sino a una reorganización interna del sistema: nuevas versiones construidas a partir de los mismos componentes.Este desplazamiento del dibujo —de matriz funcional a material generativo— establece una continuidad del dibujo, definiéndose no como una imagen fija, sino como un sistema abierto de recombinación, donde cada iteración mantiene una relación estructural con su origen.
Repurposed Images proposes a series of compositions that take as their starting point the operational residue derived from the sandblasting process developed for the Transferred Geometries series.
Sandblasting on glass involves fragmenting the original image into multiple modules to fit a standard print format (letter size), using toner prints as the transfer matrix.
Once this process is completed, the toner prints lose their initial function and would typically become operational waste. Here, however, it is precisely from these segmented images that new compositions are generated through the reconfiguration of the same modules that originally constituted the image.
The result is not an external formal variation but an internal reorganization of the system: new versions constructed from the same components. This shift of the drawing—from functional matrix to generative material—establishes a continuity of the image, defined not as a fixed form but as an open system of recombination, where each iteration maintains a structural relationship with its origin.

Artista basado en Seattle que lleva dos décadas dedicándose al grabado, centrándose en la creación de obras detalladas mediante el proceso del aguafuerte sobre cobre. A lo largo de los años, su práctica se ha ampliado para incluir trabajos en el ámbito aún experimental de la vitrografía (impresión con planchas de vidrio), el aguafuerte sobre vidrio y la participación del público a través de la performance. Imparte clases de grabado en el Cornish College of the Arts y de vitrografía en la Pilchuck Glass School.
Beres es también uno de los tres miembros de SuttonBeresCuller, un trío de arte conceptual que lleva 20 años produciendo escultura, performance y arte público. A Seattle-based artist who has been printmaking for the past two decades, with a focus on creating detailed works through the process of etching on copper. Over the years his practice has expanded to include work in the as-yet-experimental arena of vitreography (printing with glass plates), etching on glass, and public engagement through performance. He teaches printmaking at Cornish College of the Arts and vitreography at Pilchuck Glass School.
Beres is also one third of SuttonBeresCuller, a conceptual art trio that has produced sculpture, performance, and public art for the past 20 years. He is represented by Davidson Galleries and Pilchuck Gallery in Seattle, Washington. SuttonBeresCuller is represented by Greg Kucera Gallery.
